Benefits of Raspberry Leaf Tea

Benefits of Raspberry Leaf Tea

Raspberry leaf is probably one of my favorite herbs. I drink raspberry leaf tea religiously 4-5 days prior to my cycle starting, and I also drink it during. It helps tone the uterus, and I barely have any cramping once aunt flo arrives.

Why Use Raspberry Leaf?

As its name suggests, raspberry leaf  is the leaf of the raspberry plant. Also known as “the woman’s herb,” it is naturally high in vitamins and minerals we need for female health specifically: magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, and vitamins B, A, C, and E. The high level of B vitamins in particular makes it useful for relieving nausea, soothing leg cramps, and improving sleep.

Many women claim it helps ease the symptoms of PMS, endometriosis, and menopause, and some couples find it helpful when trying to conceive. This is due to its high vitamin and mineral content, which helps balance hormones and strengthens the walls of uterus and the general pelvic area.

Raspberry leaf also serves as a healthy tonic to tone the uterus during pregnancy. Native American women have been using this for thousands of years to help prepare the womb for childbirth. Most often used during the second and third trimesters, many pregnant mamas love this tea for its nurturing properties, and its robust taste. While it tastes nothing like raspberries, it has a reminiscent of a delicately and mildly fruity black tea (without the caffiene).

Studies show that it also helps shorten labor, and some women have less interventions during labor and delivery.
